Blender Studio is proud to present the teaser for OVERGROWN, our ambitious feature film project. The team has been working on it for months to showcase the visual style and atmosphere we've envisioned for this story in the best possible way.
The teaser focuses on the heartwarming dynamic between our protagonists: a Raccoon dad and his Hedgehog daughter, on their journey through a world full of hope. The world that comes after the generative challenges of today.
OVERGROWN continues Blender Studio's exploration of painterly NPR. The visual style combines a tactile aesthetic of painterly strokes inspired by gouache with complex layers of atmospheric lighting.
Blender Studio activities are only possible thanks to our subscribers. To ensure a stable foundation for the project of this ambition, we are looking for the support of 7,000 people. This goal is now 85% complete. We thank everyone who already helps us, and invite more supporters to join: together we can make OVERGROWN happen. Community support multiplies what we can achieve and share back. Free and open source, for everyone.
As announced previously, OVERGROWN aims to be more than just a feature film. The Blender Studio team plans to create and share dedicated documentation and tutorials, so other filmmakers can apply them to their own projects. This initiative also aligns with the strategic vision of Blender development, summarized in Small Teams, Ambitious Projects article by Dalai Felinto, Head of Product at Blender.
We've done our part at Blender Studio: showcasing what this project could become, and what it could bring to Blender users and filmmaking teams around the world. Now it's your turn: spread the word and help OVERGROWN gain the momentum it needs to secure the funding and keep going.
