Barrel Normal Map and Test Patch

Steps:

  1. Make sure to parent the grass to the barrel snow patch.
  2. Let's test how the barrel looks like in the snow. Add a plane at world center, scale it.
  3. Now adjust the barrel and pole, if necessary, take a look at the concept. When you're done, delete the test patch.
  4. Next we will add normal detail to the barrel. Hide the "LI-barrel_birdhouse-002" and open the "LI-barrel-blue" and select the barrel. Switch to the "Shading" tab.
  5. Duplicate the roughness image node and load assets/texture/paper_rough_256.png -texture. This texture is just 256 x 256 pixels and is tillable, make sure to change it from "Clip" to "Repeat".
  6. But first add a secondary UV Map called "UV2".
  7. Add a "UV Map" node and choose "UV2" and set the Color Space to "Non-Color".
  8. Connect the Normal map to the "Map" input, slide "Use UV2" to 1.0.
  9. Go into Edit Mode and scale the UV's by a factor of 8 (256 x 8 = 2048 which is the albedo resolution).
  10. Set the "Strength" to 0.2 or an amount that you find more appealing (lower values worked better during production).
