In this section, we will learn about the Bevel tool that creates transitional edges between faces, also called a chamfer.
Open a new Blender File and enter Edit Mode on the default cube in the scene.
Select a single edge and use Ctrl + B to start adding a Bevel by sliding your cursor up/down. The bevel can also be clamped to not "overshoot" by using C.
Select another edge and either use the Wheel or S to add more segments. If you use S (which is great for tablet users without a scroll wheel), you can move your mouse down to increase the segments. If you want to change the Width of the bevel again, use A. Take a look at all the shortcuts at the bottom.
We can also Bevel multiple edges by selecting the entire bottom face.
Press P to change the Profile of the bevel by moving your cursor up or down.
There are more functionalities when using the bevel operator. Try them out yourself!
Tip
Just like the previous tool, there is a Bevel Tool in the Toolbar.
In a later lesson, we will also talk about the powerful Bevel Modifier that can add bevels non-destructively.
That was the end of the lesson. We have learned:
- How to create bevels using
Ctrl + Band what they are.
